History

The history of our company begins 44 years ago, when a home workshop was founded in 1977 to provide screen printing services.

We used the screen printing technique to print plaques, PVC stickers, and duplicated paintings for painters using serigraphy. We went to Italy by car to get the materials (paper, paints, and silk).

The screen printing business was not going well, but it was time to move on to offset printing. That's when our first HEIDELBERG offset machine was purchased.

The first computer was purchased - an APPLE MACINTOSH LC. It had a capacity of "even" 2MB of RAM and 40 MB of disk space. At that time, MAC was the "law" for DTP, but soon we were increasingly using PCs for preparation.

In the 1990s, private companies began to be established in Croatia. We turned a home workshop into the company GRAFIS spo for printing and trade (GRAFIS - abbreviation of GRAPHIC STUDIO; Greek GRAPHOS = to write). The company has 2 employees, and the share capital was an office desk and a fax machine.

We replaced our old HEIDELBERG with a newer HEIDELBERG GTO ALCOLOR machine, with which we wanted to offer our clients higher quality prints. We were doing more and more high quality color jobs. We had 3 employees at the time.

We wanted to take quality a step further. We decided to invest in a brand new HEIDELBERG SPEEDMASTER machine, which gave us even better quality prints, complete automation in printing and thus faster delivery times for our clients. We also launched our website under our own domain www.grafis.hr.

We acquired a SCITEX DOLEV film illuminator with an online developer. It was a significant step for us at the time, as we were able to complete the entire production process independently.

We are expanding our business by introducing digital printing to our offer. After a long wait and research, we finally found the right digital printing machine for us: the XEROX 250. We were then able to print small runs (as little as 1 print).

Towards the end of the year, we are introducing into production a CTP device called RipIt for exposing plates directly from the computer (without film production and manual editing). We have also acquired an automated box gluer (we no longer had to glue boxes "by hand").

We have acquired a brand new automated cutting knife, in order to cut paper for printing or finished products with the highest quality and fastest speed. We are celebrating 30 years since we started working...

A new member of our machine park has become the Konica Minolta Bizhub C6000 Press digital printing machine with tray feeding and the ability to print long formats.

We celebrated around 40 years since the very beginning of our business and 25 years since the founding of the company by purchasing another digital printing machine, this time a Konica Minolta Accurio 2060 Press with vacuum deposition and high-capacity exposure.

Following market demands, we have invested in XXL printing, using HP Latex machines, Summa plotters and Seal laminators, we can now do large-format jobs: posters, stickers, roll-up banners, window painting, vehicles, boats...
